Look closely at this vehicle. It has three wheels. It was designed to fit inside a 2 car garage. And it can rise vertically without a traditional runway. Most aircraft require airports, hangars and professional pilots. This one is being developed around a very different idea: Personal flight for everyday people. For decades, flying cars belonged in science fiction. Then Doroni unveiled their H1-X personal aircraft model at their Soul of the Sky event. Now the company behind it is letting individual investors take a closer look. This is a paid advertisement for Doroni Regulation A offering. Three Numbers to Start
24 Jul | the day the FAA’s MOSAIC rule brought powered-lift aircraft into the light-sport category, a lighter path than the one built for air taxis. |
$128.7bn | in tariff refunds accepted for processing by the end of July, after the Supreme Court struck down the emergency-powers duties in February. |
80% | how much of the Middle East’s pre-war oil exports are moving again. Brent still settled near $100 on Monday. |
The FAA Opened a Second Door for Personal Aircraft on 24 July
A new passenger aircraft still needs five to eight years for a type certificate. As of April, three electric vertical-takeoff aircraft held one anywhere in the world, all issued by China’s regulator. The leading American air-taxi maker flew its first production-conforming aircraft in March, stage four of five. Its closest rival closed stage three of four in May.
That clock assumes the aircraft will carry paying strangers over cities. Certification basis takes one to two years, design review two to three, flight test two to three more.
Washington built a shortcut for that group. The eVTOL Integration Pilot Program came out of a June 2025 executive order, picked eight projects across 26 states in March, and lets aircraft fly real operations before the type certificate. Cargo for revenue and work with air traffic control before certification is a first in the United States. Archer’s slice covers Texas, New York and Florida.
The second door opened on 24 July 2026, when the aircraft provisions of the FAA’s MOSAIC rule took effect. For the first time, powered-lift aircraft sit inside the light-sport category.
Light-sport aircraft are certified against industry consensus standards, not the airline-grade process written for paying passengers over cities. A personal aircraft answers to a narrower set of rules built around its owner.
That splits the market. Air-taxi companies sell rides and still need the full type certificate before the first ticket. Personal-aircraft makers sell ownership, and July gave them a route that did not exist a year ago. The first group still owns the headlines. The second group is the one whose rulebook just changed.
Three Legal Routes in Seven Months, and $128.7 Billion in Refunds
On 20 February the Supreme Court ruled that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not give the president power to impose tariffs. The case was Learning Resources, and it upheld an appeals court decision from August 2025.
Within hours the White House imposed a 10% global tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, effective 24 February. That statute caps a tariff at 150 days unless Congress extends it.
In April a new proclamation widened the Section 232 duties on steel, aluminum and copper. They now apply to the full customs value of covered goods, whatever their actual metal content.
The Court of International Trade ruled against the Section 122 tariffs in May, and they expired on 24 July. The same day, a new two-tier regime under Section 301 took effect, covering 60 economies.
The routes differ in how long they last. Section 232 duties stay in force until the president declares that the covered imports no longer threaten national security, and they need no vote in Congress. Section 122 ran out on a fixed date. Section 301 rests on findings about each trading partner’s own policies, country by country.
Money from the struck-down duties is flowing back to importers. By 31 July, Customs had accepted about $128.7 billion in potential and certified refunds for processing, across 17.69 million import entries.
Each time a court closed one statute, the White House opened another, and the duties stayed on the entry. IEEPA is gone. Section 122 expired. Section 232 and Section 301 are what importers actually pay. The next public test of whether that wall holds is the midterm vote on 3 November.

Dear President Trump, I'm writing to let you know I still stand with you. For years, politicians sold out American workers and called it "progress." We know better. We lived with the consequences while factories closed and communities faded. Now the media says Americans are losing faith because Wall Street doesn't like tariffs. That's not true. We understand what you're fighting for. We know rebuilding America takes strength — and sometimes sacrifice. So don't back down. Hold the line. We're with you in this fight. Finish what you started. Proudly standing with you, Click here — add your name to this letter of support → By adding your name, you'll stand with millions of Americans who support putting America First and rebuilding our nation's economic strength. |
Brent Near $100 as Hormuz Traffic Reaches 80% of Pre-War
Oil fell for a fourth straight session on Monday. Brent settled near $100 a barrel, down 3.4% on the day, and West Texas Intermediate slipped below $100 for the first time in eleven days.
Two things drove it. Satellite data showed Saudi loadings inside the Persian Gulf at their highest since June, and TD Securities put Middle East flows at about 80% of pre-war levels. Trump also offered to meet Iran’s President Pezeshkian at the United Nations, and Qatar confirmed that Washington and Tehran are exchanging messages.
Before the war began on 28 February, about a quarter of the world’s seaborne oil trade and a fifth of its liquefied natural gas crossed the Strait of Hormuz. Seven months later, the fighting reaches well beyond it.
A drone attack on 11 September set fire to a pumping station on Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline, the route built to carry crude around Hormuz to the Red Sea. On Saturday the Houthis fired at Riyadh and at Yanbu, the kingdom’s main Red Sea export terminal, and they are pressing for control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait at the southern end of that sea.
Trump set out the options over the weekend: destroy Iran militarily, let it “rot economically”, or negotiate a deal. Michael Feller of Geopolitical Strategy said Iran could be open to talks after the US midterms, which puts the earliest serious negotiating window in November.
At least two tankers came under attack in Hormuz over the past day, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations centre. The war that started on 28 February now has three chokepoints in it: Hormuz, the East-West pipeline to Yanbu, and Bab el-Mandeb. A price that falls on a UN meeting and jumps on the next strike is not pricing a finished campaign. Iran was the opening. The map around it is still moving.

Trump Had a Hidden Reason for Bombing Iran. |
What is Scheduled
Today | Trump meets the leaders of the six Gulf Cooperation Council states on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. |
Oct | the next Fed meeting. Markets price roughly an even chance of another increase after last week’s first rise since 2023. |
3 Nov | the midterm elections, the first national vote since the tariff regime moved from emergency powers to trade statutes. |
Crude is in the inflation print the Fed cited last Wednesday. Flows at 80% of pre-war take pressure off a second hike. A strike on the East-West line or on Yanbu puts it back. The meeting in New York is one day of that tape.
The Date Personal Aircraft Got Their Own Door
24 Jul | the day the FAA’s MOSAIC rule brought powered-lift aircraft into the light-sport category, certified against industry consensus standards instead of the airline-grade process the air-taxi companies are still working through. |
